Hope everyone made it safe and sound in their travels through this winter wonderland today.

Today we started our day with Ignite and then had music right after.

Following that we had math. Students who were working on the Anchor Charts extension (to review or teach a subject to their classmates) presented them to the class. Following this we reviewed addition with regrouping and completed a Must, Should, Could of practice questions.

For L.A. we did our Daily 5. Included in this was our spelling quiz from last week and some reflection writing on Orange Shirt Day.

In Science we introduced the water cycle.

For Orange Shirt Day we had Mrs. Harmony come in and do a presentation for all the Grade 5 classes. She showed us a few videos and talked to us about Residential Schools. We finished off our day by going for a community walk to show our support and advocate for survivors of Residential Schools and our First Nations communities.

Today was a very exciting day. We had Ignite, Music, Math, PE, Language Arts speech presentations, and an amazing guest Opera performance in the afternoon! In Math students finished up their first data assignments. That is the last amount of class time they will receive and will have to be completed when they are finished other work or at home. The task is due Thursday. We are still working our way through speeches. They will be presented over the next few days. I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! Today we began our fractions unit in Math. Students started by creating fraction slips and then comparing fractions utilizing greater than, less than, and equal to with a partner.  In Language Arts students received their new words for the week. Students also continued  to type up the rough draft of their stories this week. The first draft of their story is due (typed up on Google Docs) by Wednesday. They will receive two more days to work on it at school. In Science we studies for our electricity unit test tomorrow. Students were given time to study in the class and ask questions. They were also given a study sheet for them to review tonight if they felt they needed a bit more time to study.  We also had Music, Ignite, and PE.  Mr. Berry created a website for our grade team.
